...you helped me out. I was having a battery drain problem. So I put my amp meter on all my fuses and found that my ctsy/clk fuse is drawing 3.36 amps with everything off. As we all know that fuse runs about 70% of everything in the car. I am thinking, I am going to have to rip into the dash and start disconnecting every light, horn, relay under there one at a time to make that meter drop to zero. Then I remember reading a battery drain post answered by Ken about his car and how his "Storage Compartment" lamp was his cause. So this was the first place I looked and disconnected the leads running to the lamp. Sure enough the amp meter drops to zero. On closer examanation I notice their is no switch located where the pin on the compartment door comes down to shut off the light. :duh Anywhy. its all fixed thanks to the "Crazy Man" in CA. If you were here, I would give you a hug Ken. ;LOL But seeing as you are so far away...I'll give you one of these. :BOW :w

It is turned on and off by a mercury tilt switch....opening the lid causes the mercury to make a connection and the light comes on.

Glad to know I could be of help Jon, but instead of bowing and scraping, a hug would do just fine. I need a big hug. :L

Ray is correct in that it's a mercury switch that activates the lamp. ;)

I wonder what that little plastic protrusion is that extends out to fit from the lid into the hole of the storage box is? I suspected it was to turn off the lamp. Again I stand corrected. As for the hug Ken…Here it comes :(
