Well here goes...I had a chance to visit the NCM in Bowling Green this past weekend...if you ever have a chance to go there...DO IT!! Absolutely amazing and very educational! I still haven't stopped crying...forgot to bring my camera...what a history lesson!

Those of you that helped build it and donated your Vette's are "Super Hero's"!

Anyhow, during this visit I took special notice to the tire and wheel designs for C4's over the years and I was really impressed by the appearance of the ZR1 and GrandSport tire sizes. Really "mean" looking on the GS that is parked next to a standard C4...I knew they were larger, but I never saw them side by side.

Sooooo.... now I want to upgrade my 96' LT4 Coupe to the Grand Sport size tires...I will need to find a set of chrome spoke or chrome sawblade rims that will work with the wider 315 series rear tires. I would like some of you to offer your pro/con opinions regarding this.

Any help in finding (4) rims and the your comments on the best (not cheapest) tire package will be appreciated!

MADE IN THE USA!!!!

Bought mine off ebay..AFS wheels. Paid $500 for all 4. Brand new and in GREAT shape 17x9.5 and 17x11s. Stuck some tire rack tread on em and am very happy!

Check AFSwheels.com. They have ZR-1 style wheels and packages with tires at good prices. They also sell them on ebay. If you have the LTPWS on your car, it brings up a whole new set of things to consider unless you don't mind seeing the LTPWS light on your screen all the time.

Check out MidAmerica also. They have ZR1 style in chrome with all the accessories for round 1400.

Thanks for the response but I am not clear on your comment about "LTPWS"...please explain!

OOOHHHH!!!! Thanks for the translation of LTPWS...it hit me after I posted the question....I do not have that option so I assume changing wheels will not cause me a problem...I hope!

If you don't not have LTPWS, you're in luck for aftermarket wheels! Any will work just fine.

For what its worth, I bought some AFS wheels on ebay and then discovered the issues with my LTPWS and decided not to keep them. They were the highly polished ZR-1 style and they were NICE, NICE! But if you need tires too, it's hard to beat the combo prices they (AFS) offer.

That's what the catalog says and that's just for the wheels, caps and lugnuts.

Some deals are better than others and sometimes, you get what you pay for.

When I bought ZR1 wheels for my 92 a few years ago, the LTPWS was/is an issue for me. So I bought factory ZR1 wheels from a dealer for $300 each. That way I knew my LTPWS straps would fit in the wheel.

Question about going to the 315's in the rear.....what should be done to protect the body from what the tires throw off? The 275's fit under the wells, but those 315's are not going to.

I want to add these to mine as well...but only need the rears as I already have a set of chrome ZR-1 style wheels.

Hey, anyone want to trade a set of chrome 9.5" for a set of 11"??

Lanny,

Stinger!! here...

I have investigated your question prior to your asking it...If you are concerned about the rear tire "sticking" out a bit you may want to get a set of "Grand Sport" rear fender well moldings and have them painted to match...thats what I am doing to cover the 315's ...I ordered them from a local Chevy dealer...Good Luck!

Good, I Hope that works out for you. I am more than happy with mine both with the looks and the "trueness" of the wheels. Some people say 'you get what you pay for' but I'm an avid believer of 'you get what you WANT just pay less for it' ;)

Won't 315 tires fit on CE standard wheels?

[I,ve been told from my tire guy that the 315 will fit on the wheels I have now, CE LT4, anyone know if this works or are different wheels necessary? thanx....GaryQUOTE=Stinger !!]Lanny,

315 tires

will the 315 tires work on CE LT4 wheels? I was told by my Goodyear dealer that they would....thanx....Gary

They will "fit" but that is not the optimal rim width for the tire (if you are interested in how the tire will perform)

Stinger,
Are you telling me that I can just order the GS rear fender well mouldings....I thought they were discontinued??? Can you send me a part number?? This is exactly what I have been wanting to do...but was told they were not available. Been looking for aftermarket..but found nothing.

Lanny

I got some GS flairs about a year ago from Superior Chevy, about $90 a side I think, oem.

Since then I tried to get driver side carpet from them & it was discontinued.
