I have investigated your question prior to your asking it...If you are concerned about the rear tire "sticking" out a bit you may want to get a set of "Grand Sport" rear fender well moldings and have them painted to match...thats what I am doing to cover the 315's ...I ordered them from a local Chevy dealer...Good Luck!

Stinger,
Are you telling me that I can just order the GS rear fender well mouldings....I thought they were discontinued??? Can you send me a part number?? This is exactly what I have been wanting to do...but was told they were not available. Been looking for aftermarket..but found nothing.

Lanny,

GM part #'s for "Rear Wheel Fender Moldings" -1996 Grand Sport

These were only optioned by GM for the 'GS' coupe, not the 'GS' 'vert!!!

Right side: # 88891154 Left side: # 88891153

GM retail price is $147.00 ea. (which is way to expense for what they are)

HINT!!!
If you know someone at a Chevy garage that will sell to you for "wholesale", they are about $96.00 ea. Left side is readily available but you have to have the parts guy do a "national locate" for the right side...cross your fingers on the right side! As you mentioned these are discontinued by GM....but still available in GM Parts Dept's in some places on the shelf if you look around....

Also... Corvette Central (1 800 345 4122) has them listed in their catalog as
part # 144444 right and/or left side.....$136.95ea. (again, to expensive for what they are)

Let me know if this info helps you, Good Luck!

fwiw, I got the mid-america Z-06 repros for around a grand, and have 3.15's on the rear(Goodyear Eagle F-1 GSD3), they stick out a hair, but look awesome from the rear.....and handle good too.Fronts are std GY F-1 GSD3's.

Food for thought.

Greg@NASA...

Can you post or send a pic??

Curious as to the appearence of the 'Z06' wheel combo on a C4...I am still shopping for a wheel package...kind of standing back on the ZR1 wheel...seems very common and very available for the price...I would love a set of chrome 'SawBlades' with the 17x11 rear...can't find them anywhere!

Grand Sport flare mouldings

STINGER! !,
I checked out the two part numbers you posted....about $106 each with shipping from GM....ouch. But I took a good look at them and I thought they went all the way around the wheel well opening...not just the top. Oh well...

I also checked out AFS Wheel...also on ebay...and although all I really need are a pair of rear chrome five spoke 17 x 11...its cheaper to buy a complete set of four with tires on them from AFS.

Is there a market for slightly used chrome 5 spike 17 x 9.5 wheels/tires out there?

Thanks,
LannyL81

Hey LannyL81....

Now you see what I meant about the price of these flares! I think they are way over priced as well, but they are "GM original" equipment parts.

Anyhow here is a link to a wheel store that I have found are about the cheapest available...plus free shipping and no tax as long as you don't live in CA....17x11 ZR1 style chrome are $199.00 ea and polished are $185.00 ea.

Nice wheels, good price...but still...time I buy a pair of wheels, then tires and balance, only a short amount away from AFS tire and wheel package for a set of 4. Oh well....its only money!!!!

I was at the Goodyear dealer again today deciding on the 315's or to leave it stock size. The tire guy said 1 1/2 inches won't make any difference once you get to a tire this large. Anyone know of any negatives for this fit. It's a lot of money for tires and I want to be sure before I buy. I didn't want to insult the goodyear guy and his views but then again it's not his money. He also said that if I did put the bigger rims on than the tires would stick out, what I have now wouldn't.....opinions?

Is he saying that you can put the 315's on the 9.6" wheel?

Yeah, it will most likely fit on the wheel, but like was stated in earlier posts....not a good thing to do.

And yep, if you put the 11" wheels on the rear with the 315 tires, they are going to stick out from under the wheel well. That is why I was asking about the the GS rear flares. Gets very expensive in a hurry doesn't it ! ! !

Remember, its only money!

yes , he said the 315 will fit fine on the stock wheels with no problems and if I use the stock wheels they won't stick out, but if I use the 11 wheels they will stick out. He said they put 315 tires on 9.5 wheels all the time and on other vehicles and corvettes with no problem. What exactly would the negatives or not a good thing for this fit?
