The 2014 Chevrolet Corvette: What We Know So Far And What It Needs to Succeed

To say Chevrolet Corvette fans are eagerly awaiting the Detroit auto show would be an understatement. With the all-new 2014 model making its debut there, they are counting the seconds.

I am one of them. My chest wells up like a child visiting Disney World for the first time at the mere thought of seeing the covers come off the next generation of this iconic American sports car and, better yet, hearing its sweet engine sing.

This is a hugely important car, not just for General Motors, but America. The Chevy Corvette is the original and only true American sports car, built in the United States. It is a showcase for the best of Detroit’s technology, which might at times seem crude, but ultimately kicks butt. A racing version of the current Corvette has been annihilating most of the competition in the GT1 category of the American LeMans Racing Series for years.

About all I can say for Forbes' story is:

Well...duh!

The guys points are:
V8
Front engine rear drive
lighter and stiffer
improved interior
affordable

The first four are already established as part of C7.

As for the last...affordable?
While we're at least six months from hearing from Chevy about MSRP, even is C7 gets a 10% price bump (doubtful), it still will be the best value in the high sports segment.

You'd think for the money that guy got paid by Forbes for the story, he could have given us some really meaty stuff like...

Is it really going to have those stupid quarter panel windows?
Will the C7s Nav be easy to use?
What's it weigh?
What will we need to do to mod the LT1 to 500-hp?
Has the "Grand Sport" moved downscale and become the base car?

Hib ... buddy .... eeeeasy there, big fella.

I've read some of your articles and this Forbes guy is hamburger next to your prime rib. He has neither the depth of knowledge and experience with Corvette that you have, nor can he stand against your general automotive expertise.

Let him walk on this one and save your ammo for bigger game.

At least he's a fan and not a hater.
However, 4 days and counting.
Tomorrow another video will be unlocked on the website.
