Spring fever is starting to set in around our farm in Michigan and my thoughts have turned to dusting off the Vette and hitting the road! However, before taking it out for the first time this year I decided that I needed to do a few mods, cosmetic (ZR1 wheels and new Kuhmo's), maintenance (new power seat track and power window regulator, new Opti) and performance (SVO 24# injectors, K&N, open air box, throttle body airfoil and a new PROM by Jeff).

Imagine my surprise as I went to install the open air box and K&N when I discovered that the MAF was nowhere to be found!:confused I've not pulled any codes off of the car (didn't think I had any reason to). When I put the car up in November it was running reasonably well (I've known for awhile that the injectors were marginal) for having over 100k on the clock. ;shrug

Anyway, what type of performance issues should I have seen by running without a MAF? Could any damage of been done to the engine. And since I seem to need a new one, what would be the recommended route?

Thanks for any and all input!

Bill,

1993 Did not have a MAF, it was re-introduced in the 1994 model year..

1990-1993 only used the MAP sensor (aka Speed density)

Jeff.

Thanks for the info! You saved me numerous headaches (not to mention $$$!). By the way, where is the MAP sensor located? And is it one of those sensors that needs to be relocated for optimum performance?

it is on the Plenum near the Throttle body on one of the sides.. I forget. It is also in the best spot it can be to accurately measure manifold pressure
