The Hood Latch Release Broke Today....

On my '87 Coupe,I saw in Mid-America's catalogue that there is a "ROD" you
can buy for $20 to get the hood open....So as I was at work and made up
several length's of rod's with a small "L" bend at one end and a LARGE "L",
at the other, and according to Mid-America you should be able to open the
hood in "SECOND'S" by TWISTING the Rod when the driver's door is OPEN,
and the rod is inserted with the Small "L" over the upper door hinge inside
the Left fender about 8-10 Inch's???

However I can't "SEE" ANYPLACE to insert the "L" to twist and get the hood
open???

Am I missing something?? Or are there OTHER way's to get the hood open
that I'm not aware of ???

Any help would be appreciated!!

You're not missing anything, except the latch. :L

It just takes some practice, and it helps if you can remember which way the latch unlatches, that is, which way it swings to release the hood.

If all else fails, I 've heard several owners sat they removed the fender linners and reached up to unlatch the hood. If you buy the rod, they suggest trying it first a couple times. Hard to do it the hood won't open. G ood luck

If all else fails, take a pliers and grip the cable near the release latch under the drivers side of the dash. Pull real hard, it might do the trick. It worked for me.

The rod is almost impossible to use if you never tried a dry run.
You have to now what you're aiming for.
