...our 6.2L LT1 Gen V has the same torque as the LS7 seven liter all the way up to 4000 RPM. So in you're normal driving experience, you're going to feel like you're driving a seven liter.
We have the same specific output horsepower per liter as the LS7; actually a fraction of a horsepower per liter more. Overall, you're getting LS7 type performance in an engine that's a standard engine in that car. That's something we're really proud of.
WOW! :cool I've only been in one LS7 vette, and it was one of the GM mule C6's before the Z06's were released. And I still remember the feeling that car had. Barely pressing the GO pedal from a near standstill in 2nd gear(!!!) and I still felt like I was being tossed back in my seat! And now this new 'base model' engine has that power and feel??? Aww, man, I want one!

I'm curious what impact, if any, this will have on prices of the LS7 's offered over the counter by GM Performance.

An LT1 "feels like" an LS7 only up to about 4000 rpm.

As for the effect on LS7 crate motor prices...probably not much as GM has yet to announce a crate version of the LT1.

Item 1: Yeah, I saw that. But I approached my "awe" from the point that most(?) of the pedal mashing people do is below 4000 RPM (from 0 MPH or a slow roll). Beyond 4000 RPM, most(?) are probably getting ready to shift or get out of it.

Item 2: Yes, that was with the inference of when the LT1 becomes available as well. Premature, I know. But I need to start saving my pennies now. :D

"...most pedal mashing is below 4000 rpm."
??!!
What...afraid of that ZZ4, are ya? Sucker oughta pull to 6200.
:D

With all mine, I don't even "mash" 'till about 1700 rpm and I keep it mashed to 6500 of so. Sometimes 7000.

Ahh, well, see, now I'm fairly certain we've never met in person or you haven't been to a CruiseFest! :L You and I are clearly not members in the 'most' group of Corvette owners I perceive. :D
And my ZZ4 hits it's torque sweet spot around 3500; HP around 5250 per GM spec. Though it's been a while since I've actually referenced my dyno pulls to confirm, I seem to recall the RPM numbers being close to accurate....not so much so on the power numbers. Rear wheel numbers were rather embarrassing. :chuckle

I'm with Hib here - Once I'm into the throttle, 4000 is just where the LS7 really starts to sound right and 7000 comes real quick after that - especially in first! :D

I'm with Evo .. . .I've seen him at Cruisefests, he's not afraid of the right pedal! :thumb
I'm also in that group, love that pedal! If I'm not going through a set of skins a year, there was something wrong.
