Welcome to the Corvette Forums at the Corvette Action Center!

The odyssey continues...

I just got a blast (email) from the past.........
Hi Bob!

Even though you missed your deadline, some of us are really enjoying your efforts anyway. Keep up the good work!!!

I periodically email my Corvette friends around here with your progress.

And I am one of the few left that remembers your car way back when so I have a double appreciation.

Do you remember heading to the Convention drags at Sparta in the early morning on August 6, 1978? Think you woke up most of downtown London!!!

Keep at it! Red cars go fast!!

Regards, Tom P.

PS: Looking forward to a ride.

I remember you very well, Tom, but I confess to being so exhausted with all the partying at London's great 1978 convention that I'm amazed I could even find the track after absolutely no sleep for a day-and-a-half. ;LOL

Your convention is where I got to meet Zora and Elfie. :upthumbs

I'll see that you get that ride.

I at least thought a Motor Head like you would also be into Power Lawn Equipment...I noticed Your hedge trimmer and what looks like a weed wacker hanging on the side wall with a 2 mile extention cord next to them...;LOL ;LOL ;LOL

My 18-year old son is in charge of yard maintenance around here and I'm not buying anything that makes his life easier. :D Suffering builds character. ;LOL

Anyone notice anything else? :L

I've heard that quote for a long time and now i really can appreciate it. A few years ago I would have called you a grumpy old man for saying that ( i still might, watch out! :D ) But after busting my hump at my job for 3 years I can tell you that i enjoy a good suffering every once in a while. Take today for instance......Anyhow, I really enjoy working with some of the kids slightly younger than I am who think i'm going to take it easy on them, NOT THIS GUY. At the end of the day they learn how real work is done!

Considering the major changes made to the rear of the car, the bumpers fit surprisingly well. That's masking tape at the front corner.

No, they won't need to be stretched. Amazing, isn't it, when you realize that, at the wheels, the car is approximately 6-8 inches wider than before.

There will be some work required to fit them the way I want, but the bumpers can now be sent out for re-chroming.

The work continues....

I had a hard time trying to figure out what all that stuff was and if it was related to the Vette project. Just make sure it is far enough away from that new paint job. You can never be too cautious with a teenager.
:L The car looks awesome and looks like a tiger ready to pounce on its prey.

Since the car came back from paint, I have gathered up all the overhead door remotes and keys.

No one (the Mrs. included) goes in there without me. No one removes or replaces any yard tools but me. If I'm not home, nobody has access to the garage. :D

Once the project is complete, the car will occupy the centre spot in this 20-foot garage leaving "lots" of room on all sides.

It's good to have rules. A center bay... hmmmm, something to think about.

I could just hear it......and have! "Gee dad I was just trying to get my bike out and uh, it was an accident.....there was not enough room and ......I am sorry I did not mean to scrape the paint off of the fender.......Is that car wider than it used to be?.......my bike used to fit." :cry

Nice!!!!! Best of luck...Can't wait to see the finished product..
Is that pace car mirror in the background???

My brother has a Pace Car mirror......and an unopened Pace Car shaped bottle of Jim Beam.
My dad got all of that stuff back in 1978......right after he bought his new 1977.
