I got started doing the rebuild of my 96 LT1. The car is at Advanced Auto and Bob is doing a great job. The build-up consists of new water pump, MSD billet opti, Cloyes timing chain, Compcams XFI 466 cam, Crane valve springs, Compcams hi-tech pushrods, Crane hyd. roller lifters, Scorpion 1.6 rr's, heads ported and polished and valves punched out to 2.00 in 1.55 exh., MSD blaster coil, and depending on tune we will probably put LS1 28# injectors, and the tune to be done by Fromato, and last but not least we are turning the wick up on the nitrous.

We should have it done and tuned by the 6th. I cant wait to see what she'll do.

Greg

Do you have it done yet? When you do, post with what kind of numbers it puts up.

It's done... and the numbers are impressive. But I'll let Greg tell them to you.

Need to change my sig to "We make HP!" :D I'm very pleased with the setup thus far.

Alright, the final numbers are in.

best n/a dyno came in at 335rwhp 344rwtq. That is from a baseline of 269rwhp 296rwtq.

on the nitrous, we were running into some problems so we never did a full pull with the juice. but the best number we got there was 419rwhp and the dyno didn't get the torque reading. The tuner felt that if we didn't call off the nitrous pull it was going to pull at least 450rwhp just by looking at the graph, but we'll never know.

So, we picked up 66 rwhp on just motor, and 72 more rwhp on the bottle.

A big thanks to Bob at www.advancedautocc.com he pulled a late night thrash (we started the car for the first time at 1:00 AM last night so we wouldn't miss our appointment today). He busted his tail to get this done, yesterday morning my heads were sitting on his work bench where they just arrived from the machine shop.

That is a nice power gain right there. Can't wait to do mine this year and get it to where I want it to be.

All I can say at this point is....

it runs good!

Seriously, thanks for the kind words, Greg. Here's hoping for some good ETs at the Challenge this month.

If you win my "Best Package" award there, I'll really be impressed! :D

Well dang!!! I'm so jealous. I'm a big purchaser at Advanced Auto Parts too and they don't have in-house service like that here. Why? And unlike the dealership techs here, I really like the AAP people I deal with. But they just sell parts here. Too bad.

you got Bob's shop confused. He's an independent shop and has NO association with Advanced Auto as we know it. this is why you won't never see anyone from advanced auto parts working on cars especially installing nitrous :D

It's Advance/Discount Auto Parts you have me confused with. Or some stores are still Advance Auto Parts. (no "D" on the end).

I'm in no way shape or form associated with those monkeys. :D

Thanks for the clarification, Mic.

And FYI... try getting this level of service with the "big box" mailorder houses (Scummit or Dregs)... they can't touch it! That's where you support your local speedshop (if you have one), because service makes the difference! I treat ALL of my customers just like I'd like to be treated, just ask any of them.

No Problem Bob :D I didn't think you were assoctiated with those monkeys :L

Yes I can vouch for Bob's customer service atleast! It is 110%+ positive! I'm sure this reflects in his work as Legion is very happy. It's alot like my bait and tackle business.... if you don't support us we won't be here! (I'm actually thinking about selling my B&T biz and starting a shop of my own with a friend of mine. seriously thinking about this since this has always been a dream of mine.

Oooooh! Okay. Well then shoot, open a shop up here!
Happy Vettin! :Steer

Short of that, if you have need of C4 parts, go-fast or otherwise... I'm but a PM away (I check pms at least twice daily). Hopefully I can help. :)

Bobs the man! i'm just talking out my other end right now...lol :L

Prediction for the track...

All I'll say right now is Greg's ride is like Jules Wynnfield's wallet (nice Pulp Fiction reference..;) )
