Get an inside look at the birth of a Corvette Stingray, from its first bottle of Mobil 1™ to its first roar on the track. Since 1993, four generations of these iconic sports cars have been factory-filled with Mobil 1 synthetic motor oil. Throughout the years, Mobil 1 has continued to advance to meet the […]

I believe my 14' Z51 was filled with Dexos which is a synthetic blend.

Actually, the 2014 Z51s were Mobil 1 filled. It was the base models (w/o dry sump) that had the Dexos semi syn fill. My dealer still want to put Dexos semi syn in my 2014, so I change my own, and use Penzoil synthetic.

If that's the case why does my oil cap on my dry sump tank 2015 Z06 says DEXOS instead of Mobil 1 . It sure would have cleared up a lot of miss communication on what oil the dealers wanted to use !!

DEXOS is a GM specification or "grade" of oil, not a brand. Mobil 1 meets the DEXOS qualifications that GM has demanded, as do other brands.

I would say the majority of corvette owners know that DEXOS is a GM Specification. My last 3 corvettes said on the oil caps MOBIL 1. But as I stated GM advertises about Mobil 1 being the factory fill of corvettes since 93 so why all of a sudden they drop the Mobil 1 label from the oil caps. A lot of dealers refused to use Mobil 1 unless the customer paid the difference in the cost because nowhere did it say to use Mobil 1. Even when I took my 2015 Z06 for it's 500 mile break-in oil change, I had to show them Service Bulletin from GLOBAL CONNECT message #G_0000205212 which states use of Mobil 1 in Z51 / Z06 for Corvette owners, otherwise my dealer would have used their oil that was a blend but DEXOS approved.
Again with the Mobil 1 Label on the oil cap that would clear up a least to the dealers what brand oil came factory fill from GM and what brand to use. Just my $.02 :beer

When I bought my 93' Ruby Anniversary 22 years ago I was told this was the 1st year corvettes didn't require an oil cooler with the use of Mobil 1 full synthetic. I can't validate that statement (especially from a salesman) but it did say Mobil 1 on my oil cap. Since then, my C5, and C6 both had Mobil 1 on my oil caps.
It does say in the manual (under Recommended Fluids and Lubricants) for my C7 Z51 - AC Delco dexos1 Synthetic Blend is recommended however, for Track Events and Competitive Driving use Mobil 1.
Does anyone know what the dealer is using for the free oil changes? Is it the dexos1 synthetic blend or is it the full synthetic Mobil 1?
Thanks,
Chris

When I had my 500 mile break-in oil change done, my local dealer used Mobil 1 5-30 wt after showing him Globel Connect Message #G_0000205212. Also they mentioned that since the break-in oil change was required by GM that it would not go against my other free oil changes ( 4 oil changes in 2 years ) and that they will use 5-30wt Mobil 1 and only on the Corvettes.

GM Globle Connect: Ref. number Service/Operation / G_0000208346 States:

In the event a customer paid an upcharge for Mobil 1 under the Chevrolet Complete Care Program, customers should be directed to contact Executive CAC at (855) 435-7284 or email helpcustomer@gm.com for reimburstment. Also if you have any issues with your dealer call (855) 435-7284. Hope this info helps !! :beer
