The smell of virgin rubber

You know you're a gearhead when the smell of virgin rubber is such a lovely
aroma.

Just found out how lovely--bought 6 performance tires and now all are in my basement family room and it smells divine. Nothing like it. Love soft compound smell.

I don’t know if I should be worried about myself or be happy knowing that I’m not the only one!

Last year, I bought four brand new Goodyear Eagle GSCs for all four corners (hard to find, keeping my LT4 OEM). Stored them ever so carefully in my basement. I remember the smell, it was pretty good.

Not what you think--3 pairs of 2. 1 pair GY F1 GS-D3 for my daily driver Firebird (which has really crappy tires I have been waiting to replace).

1 pair for road racing--I will put on the rear. 100 wear rating, very sticky, but good for 5000 mi (to and from events).

1 pair vette street tires--needed for road racing also. Will replace my aging GSC's, one of which has nail in it now. Don't want to race on patched tire.

Almost all rubber, except virgin rubber, has a significant odor. The aroma you smell is a "new tires" smell, not virgin rubber.

That's her alright. But There is no way she would see it. she hates CAC. Primarily because I am always on our laptop at night reading on CAC!:L
