Hello my fellow Corvette Owners :D im new to the forums :p

1990 Corvette, L98, Burgandy

well, i have a thermostat that needs to be replaced. i have the new thermostat to put in.
theres three questions i have to ask.
1. i read somewhere that its recomended to drill a hole on the thermostat. should i do this? what are the benifits?

2. where is the thermostat located? (my books are not very descriptive and i cant find it)

3. should i flush out the coolant?

Im looking for some Headers, but i dont know where to look. any suggestions?

First of all welcome to CAC!!!:w

You've come to the right place to get answers to your questions. The thermostat is easier noticeable on the drivers side underneath the Throttle body. Much easier access if you take the inlet hose and Throttle body off. I've never drilled a hole in a thermostat. I have seen some come with the holes though.

I have TPIS longtube headers on mine. The fit and finish is very good. I have had them on my car for 3 years now.

oh okay, see, thats alot more helpfull then those curssed books. lol

well thanks, ill look at it in the morning.

huh... i had found some headers, but apperently i didnt book mark it...

There are no benefits. Use a Stant 180° thermostat and you're engine will love you for it

It is at the front of the intake manifold. "Service manuals" which do not show the thermostat location are not really service manuals and should be used to line your cat box. You need the Factory Service Manual for a 90. You can get them on-line from Zip Products.
3. should i flush out the coolant?
If the coolant has not been change in the last 3 yrs or 36,000 miles, yes.

i have a duralast 180* thermo.
is duralast even a good company to get parts from???

holy fadoodle. manuals are expensive :ugh

looks like its a flush im going to be doing....

btw, thanks for replying guys :D very helpful, indeed.

Duralast doesn't make anything. It's an in-house brand of Auto Zone. Chances are a Duralast thermostat will work ok. But, it really depends on what company supplies the 'stats to AutoZone.

oohhh okay, i see.

on the box though it says duralast... lol

i have used a duralast EGR valve though. (fixed my code 32 problem)
