Thermostat

It's apparent after running my car the last couple of cool Atlanta nights that there is no thermostat in the car. After 10 - 15 minutes the car still is not up to 160 degrees. What temperature thermostat should go in this car here in the hot South. Aren't the emissions equipment an issue? As I recall, the smogged up cars needed to run a little hotter to be efficient.

Bob,

Factory specs for 77 are 180 degree for L-82 and 195 degree for L-48. I too have heard that the smog systems run better with the higher temp. I'm sure others with smogged engines will chime in soon to give you their opinions.
 
Me too.

180 in an L48 with a flex fan. Smog equipment? Shhh! ;)
