this morning............. that is ................ how to get in and out of my vette without looking like an idiot! :L

Gotta love that tilt wheel! I love having it down, almost to my lap (yes, I do have clearance) BUT I was trying to get out with it down and ending up like rolling out the dang door! :D Go ahead! Laugh! It is funny! :L So I stopped to fuel up this morning and dump my entire life savings into the tank (btw, how many gallon tank is it?) , I refused to look like a fool (bad enough I got a t-tag on it.....HEY I'M A NOOBIE :wkind of look, flipped up the tilt wheel and got out more graciously. :chuckle

So.....are ya laughing at me? Or with me? Come on, ya'll have been there...............right? ;)

Bren, I remember when I had my 94, getting in and out was an "art". I found, that, if I set my rear end down on the sill and scooted in to the seat and swung both legs in at the same time. As a matter of fact, I still use the same technique with my 2001 and actually my wife's Bonneville.

Haha so I'm not the only one? That ledge is kind if in the way! How dare it! Guess owning one of these will put me on a diet! :-)

Far from the only one.....:L, anyone who ever got into or out of a C4 had the same issues. The high sill was a result of the Chevrolet/GM higher ups, wanting that targa top you are looking for. By having the "true targa" (versus the "T-top" with the divider T bar, like the C3's), caused structural weaknesses. To adjust the structure, the engineers had to make those side frame rails larger. There is a really good book that describes the C4 development "Corvette, from the inside" by Dave McClellan, former chief engineer of the Corvette. Pick it up and read it, makes you understand your car a bit more.

Gotcha! I might look at that book. And I can't wait for my owners manual to come so I can figure out all the buttons! :-) Least I did figure out where to put the gas! :-P

:thumbThat is a great book, I have a copy. I get into my C4 like Toms01 said, but I just put my butt into the seat and then swing my legs over the sill. You think a C4 is bad try a C1 Corvette with its odd shaped doors. I banged my knees off my buddies 59 a few times. Even worse try a Dodge Viper of any year, VERY wide sill and odd doors with the sill hot enough to fry an egg. I saw a old Countach other other day at a car show, it looked about 20 times worse than a C4. Count you blessings.

Some Are Bad

Yes, some cars are bad for getting out of but you should try an MG Midget (It's smaller than the more common MGBs)! It's not bad with the top down but with it up it's not that easy to get in or out of. I usually end up getting a leg out then rolling out onto my hands. Definately undignified.

AT 6'3" and getting old with some stiff joints... yeah, I've done (do) that manuver. Sucks in the rain...dogs...bubble gum...oil leaks.

Entry...
Normally I'll do a back in, squat-spin-around on one leg and down move thats the envy of every ballet dancer in the hills...;LOL
