I have a 1990 convertible. The third brake light on the rear fascia does not burn. I have checked to voltage coming to the bulb socket and found it to be 13.4 volts. I ran a temporary wire from the positive side of the battery post to the bulb socket and the buld illuminated. I don't understand why the 13.4 volts coming from the designated wire will not illuminate the buld. Any help would be appreciated.

Is the socket grounded? It needs a ground wire attached to complete the circuit.

Does the bulb fit snugly into the socket?

Oh well not much help on that .

Just check ground and the other brake lights.
The 3rd brake light was invented by a woman along with wiper blades.
I would ask one of them.:L

Yeah I agree what a PITA to get to at least on convertibles. I envy the guys with coupes sometimes.
