Wrong interpretation

Larry,

That list look's a lot more like a restoration, then a Winter " To-Do " list.;LOL

Stepinwolf

Me too, Larry.

All I got done from my "winter" list was pulling the radio for updating, an oil change and lube. :D

I got sidetracked into painting and wallpapering throughout the entire house, in preparation for selling it.

Oh well, one thing for certain. They'll be plenty more winters. ;)

Larry, don't feel bad, I did a bunch to my car - well, it was a lot for ME, but I didn't make it all the way thru my winter project lists so a lot of things are now on hold until next winter.

Are you still planning on trying to get the list completed by summer or just concentrate on the most important items for this season?

BTW, i can't wait to see the car again at Carlisle this year! :)

Bob

you are selling your house?
That new garage you built to rebuild Heaven is only a couple years old isn't it?
Oh, let me guess, you found a house with a 6 car garage you couldn't pass up so now you will have room for Heaven, a few more project cars, a lift, and everything! :D

I actually made a list of what is still needed on my Old Yellow Truck and started to buy parts needed for converting the 76 to a small motor so the Wife and Boy can drive it. Winter projects usually start in earnast in the spring for me.
I did get a OEM CD player in the dash of the C5 and replaced the seat adjusters, cushions and covers also. Still need more sound deadening matl so the Wife will ride in it though the B&B's resonate too much for her. Being half deaf I can't here what she is complaing about.;LOL

Yes of course I will attempt to complete this by the cruising season. I am really shocked trying to figure out where the time went this winter. I have been so busy at work. I also redid our main bathroom in the house that went from a simple update to entire new plumbing for the bathroom and kitchen and waste lines, Complete new electical home runs added to both baths, new exchaust venting for both baths, Relocation of the hotwater heater in the basement to eliminate the flue pipe to make the bathroom bigger.

can't wait to see the tri power.......

Welcome to the club guys. Monday is my only available day to get anything done and last Monday I put down sub flooring in my new sunroom addition. That's usually the way it goes when I think I can get some work done in the shop. The nice part is that after only 5 days I can actually use my legs again. Tuesday and Wednesday I could hardly get around. Sucks getting old.

Although I did make some good progress on my old yellow truck this winter it isn't ready to fire up for the first time yet. I wanted to be cruising it up and down the driveway sans exterior sheet metal when the weather started to warm up. I sent off a small order to Summit yesterday that pretty well took care of the last odds and ends small parts I needed except for the carb. This is actually the first project I ever did where time is more of a problem than parts.

Maybe we should all switch to old trucks. They are a lot cheaper to build than Corvettes. :L

Tom

So I checked the archives on my winter projects

this one is from 02/19/03

Well this year I went on a purchasing spree in september for all the projects I had planned for my C2.I got all my parts (well almost I now realize I need to cosmedicly restore my shafts on my car )

And the only thing I was able to acomplish so far was the new tranny, clutch, bellhousing, and some parts of the frame repainted.New hidden stereo thatI LOVE and side pipe cover installed.

All this I completed 3 days prior to oct 17th,(My knee surgery) Since that day I have not been able to get back into the garage to work on the vette.I did complete a home project but none on the vette.I am shocked how fast time has passed (pretty soon it will be top down weather and again Ill be rushing in the garage to acomplish my projects

These are my comments on a topic started on 11/06/04 by Fuelie

My projects are to finish off my 62,

Then bring some type of order back to my garage area.

Then if time permits

I had purchased a rebuilt 3:36 rear center section awhile ago and I need to install that in my 66 to replace the 4:11 I have in it now. Along with the center section I have all correct date coded calipers,Rebuilt trailing arms,Correct rear spring,New half shafts.and some new/rebuilt detail items, that I need to install to finish off the undercarrige of my car.New dewit reproduction radiator, reskinned manifold, reskinned bellhousing,

I just have not had the time or the enthusiasm to get started on it.I have plans to flight this car and use every excuse I can find not to complete it so I dont have to have it flighted.

Allthough the cars is complete and driveable, these are the tiny things I need to complete the car.
If we were to go back to past winter project lists, chances are these are the same items I have posted in the past about,But I do have some excellent excuses why I did not complete them

Excuse

1-surgery fall of 2001
2-surgery fall of 2002
3-did front suspention winter of 2003
4-winter of 2004 working on project 62
5 Winter of 2005 ??????

Here's my winter project list:

Power wash both garage floors

Dig hole for light standard at front of driveway, fill with concrete, connect lights up to buried 110 outdoor Romex

Install/connect outdoor duplex 110 outlet at half-way point (150ft) up the driveway

Install two interior cold air returns for upstairs HVAC. My builder was (and remains) an idiot.

Begin planning for cabinetry work/hardwood flooring for master bedroom closet. Install 4 more interior duplex outlets upstairs. (I have already installed 40 duplex outlets in the house (Yes, 4 boxes of 10 from the Big Orange Box), almost 500 feet of 12/2 interior Romex, 200 feet of 10/2 and almost 200 feet of 4ga multistrand for the 220 in the garage.)

Finish insulating the HVAC ducting in the basement.

Start planning for the redo of the house at the beach - kitchen and two bathrooms.

The cars? Oh, they're under tarps right now.

Finish insulating the HVAC ducting in the basement.

Makes sure you seal all opening in the return system prior to insulating it,one thing that effect how a house works with pressures is a sealed up supply system and a leaky return system that puts a basement portion of the home in a negitive pressure, that could allow it to pull air down the chimney.

Some times we dont realise how one thing effects the other but a couple of days sealing things up imporoperly can turn a safe home into a possible dangerous home

I'm pretty sure I did what you recommend to a decent level of acceptance. I used the "cork tape" rather than plain old duct tape because I know duct tape dries up pretty quickly. Since I need to keep this thread in this Forum and not kicked to the "Off Road Lounge", I will add that I use HVAC cork tape as an air sealant for my radiator shrouds. Especially useful for the big block where I want EVERY cfm going THROUGH the Harrison, not AROUND it.

That said, our Master Bedroom feels like a wind tunnel when the HVAC kicks in - all moving into the Center Hall. So, I'm thinking about adding a cold air return(s) at the other end of Bedroom to compensate. Whudya' think? How does this relate to my midyears? Easy, I will take the #781 cast iron heads from the 427 that I'm not using, go up into the attic and DROP them through the ceiling drywall for an INSTANT cold air return. Thanks and a tip 'o da hat to VNV for yet another outstanding idea!!!!

It's ALL about my Corvettes.
