Anyone know what the difference is between the 85-88, 89-91, and the lt1 throttle bodies?

Im looking to upgrade from my stock 86 body to a bbk 58. Most of the time either the 89-91 numbered body is for sale, or its for an lt1. I have a superram and am wondering if there is something I could do to use an lt1 throttle body, or the one from the 89-91 tuneports.

Thanks,

-chris

Unless your engine is bigger than 383, and youve changed the intake to a Superram/Miniram/Stealthram, you have no need whatsoever for a 58.

It will kill your throttle response and F up your idle on a 350 TPI.

Its not going to kill throttle response with a 58mm throttle body. LPE rec. that all of their super ram upgrades, even on a stock motor, use the 58mm throttle body. I can only imagine so because the plenum is so large. With that being said, i'de look at the Holley 58 mm throttle body over the BBK. My holley 58mm is very nice.

BBK does not get a lot of compliments on their TB's as far as I've seen.

Well, guys, I might make a 383 later on. But that will be way in the future.. As for now then, im looking for a 52 or a 58, However the origional question still matters. Can I use a throttle body from a later tuneport?

thanks,

-chris

I wasn't talking about THEM supplying a 58 vs 52 in THEIR packages. If you call them, and ask what is needed for a SuperRam on an L98 (as I did), a 52mm TB is enough on a 350. I had a 58, and they suggested I drop it back to a 52...

When they sell a SR package, they usually are selling the whole thing for a conversion on some other engine. Like a TBI truck or something like that.

It still doesnt make any sense to me they would insist on a 58, when you dont need it. A 52 flows 750cfm, and theres no way a 350 can use ALL of that with a SR.
