Timing for engine -1981

Factory specs is 6' - running comp.cam and rpm manifold with hi performance chip.What is the best performance setting? 355cu in.1981.

The above post is a bit limited in information

So...you have a stock short block and heads with a COMP Cam and an "RPM" manifold. Can you post the cam specs and more specifics of the intake manifold? Also, what do you have for exhaust?

As for the initial timing, the spark advance is controlled by the ECM so, I'd leave the initial timing at 6° BTDC.
