on the info plate on the fan shroud it says timing should be 6 degrees "DR"-- What is the "DR"? What is the setting for more performance (I read like 10-12) or should I just stick with the factory setting?

As you adjust your timing you will find that 6 degrees advaced is correct. I think that is what my car was originally set at. I moved mine up to like you said between 10 and 12. I wouldn't go much farther than that. I looked in some books and 6 degrees from what i can tell is correct.

good luck

I too have read the 10-12 degree thing quite a few places and that is where mine is set right now, runs just fine.

The tricky part is figuring out where 10-12 degrees is?

a quick question on timing..

I looked for the tan with black strip wire to discconnect going from the ECM to the distrubter to check my timming in the "bypass" mode as the label on the radiator shroud says. The problem is, I can see all the wires and I can see the 4 pin connector BUT I do not see any connectors on that tan/black wire that all the diagrams say there should be. What else can I do?

IT took me a two or three tries to find that wire on my '88. It is near the break booster and probably on the bottom side of one of the hoses. It's hidden pretty well, but once you find it, it's easy.

Jester thanks!

I looked where you said it would be and there it was. The tan wire with a black strip and single sealed connector! I NEVER would have looked by the brake power booster since the manual wire diagram shows it between the 4 pin connector and the distributer. Now I can check the timing to see where it is!

Thanks a million! :beer
