I just got a replacement canvas top for my 98 Convertible and was just wondering if anyone had any good tips on how to replace it myself. Anything I should watch out for or any good websites with information about how to do it properly. Let me know. Thanks

Hi there,
First, the GM tops fit the best, but you will need an upholstery steamer and the installation kits for the bow system, and the top stapler. I custom fabricated a stand that holds the bow system once I remove it from the vehicle.
It takes me about 6 hours to do one, its very time consuming and extremely difficult if you do not have the proper tools.
The biggest key is to remove the top as an assembly, as they install it that way at the factory.
3 bolts on each side retain the entire assembly.
If you are not prepared for a full weekend to do this, DONT DO IT!!!!
Pay an upholsterer to do it.
My first one took me 2 days.
Allthebest, :hb

well, you are right took me about 10 hours but the cover is on and back on the car. The only problem is it is a little tight. Is this where the upholstery steamer comes in? Where do I get one and once I use it will the Top loosen up? It is now pulling up the back about an inch. Let me know. Thanks
