Got this nice nice screw or nail in my right front tire ... not leaking. Question is where is the best place to go to have this fixed. Firestone? Goodyear? Can they handle the "LTPWS"? and the wide wheels? The last place I had tires put on is not there anymore. I never had to deal with this before. They are firestone tires. Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks!

Hey, I recently had a similar dilema, but I don't have any of the fancy things, just stock 85 rims. I went to my local walmart, got a plug kit. Inflated the tire to 45 PSI. Latched onto the offending article witha pair of vise grips, removed it. Used the reamer to abrade the sides of the puncture. Inserted the patch plug material.

The kit was like six dollars and change. I keep one in each of my vehicles. Learned a long time ago that it was easier than having a garage do it.

If you aren't so inclined to do it yourself, and have Firestones, take it to a Firestone shop, if there are any special procedures that you know of explain it to the order writer and ask if they can do it properly.

Lots of Luck

It depends on where the screw is at. If it is on the sidewall, that cannot be repaired and you'll have to replace the tire. It it's on the tread, most tire shops will fix it. You can either do it yourself like taegdh said or you can bring it in. I don't think they'd charge you more than $25 to do something like that. Had that happen to a truck of mine a few years ago and they charged $15 at Pep Boys, even got to take the nail home with me. :L

This happened to one of my 315 Michelin Pilots on chrome AFS wheels. I removed the tire at home and took it to Tire Pros. They repaired the tire and balanced the wheel for $17.
