JWA, Similar to the situation with your Cornering Confidence thread, since you posted this thread in two different forums, to avoid confusion, I'm going to merge them and leave the merged thread in the C5 Technical and Performance Forum.
By the way- I really like the burgundy on light oak coloring of those 50th Anniversary Editions!
Emailed a note to Goodyear last week and got a call from Barbara this a.m. Very helpful person, I explained the problem about the tire. Her response: The tire can be patched (on the tread) and still retain it's rating. If the tire requires a second patch the rating is lowered and only 3 patches can be done --- then you have to replace that tire if you're than unlucky!
She put me on hold and called my local Chevrolet Dealer who flat out said they would not patch the tire. Then she contacted the local Goodyear Dealer who did not know about repairing the tire!
She gave me the number of a local non-brand specific certified run flat tire repair business-Just Tires in Ventura.
I've read before about this problem and some of you have purchased a new tire. My question is: Was the tire prorated? Apparently not everyone is in sync?
We took a hit at 80 mph in Kansas while in our 50th convertible. We called 1-800-runflat from a LAND line and were automatically connected to a Goodyear dealer who can fix runflats. Perhaps that can help you.
PS - they fixed the tire, did not scratch that painted rim, and were on the road inside of an hour.
