Tire Recommendation, please

This is my 4th Vette and I can say the Goodyear EMTs have been and are a waste of good money. I have 16k on my 02 and I am already in the market for a new set. The Goodyears will be my last choice. I am considering the Michelin Pilot A/S Zero Pressures. I have heard good and bad about the Firestones. Tire Rack would be a good resource for tire comparisons.

I got Goodyear F1 GS D3's. Love them. They are better in the off chance you are in rain. All around better traction, better ride, less noise and the rim protection doesn't hurt. Honestly though, one problem is the active handling kicks in before sooner than the limits of the tires. Am thinking of throwing in sway bars to make the car tighter. They may wear down sooner, but my emt's wore out in 30k. The jap tires wear down quicker than that. As that I'm a vet, ain't going french anything.

Tire rack is the way to go, but if you have a tire co that will meet or beat any advertisement, go with them. Of course, that's if you trust them with your baby.

Another vote for the Kumho MXs.Non run-flat, at less than 750 installed a real bargain.Better dry traction than either F1s or KDs according to recent tests done by tirerack and published in latest issue of 5.0 magazine. Personal experience is that this tire is very forgiving, and will let you know when its limits are reached, without throwing you out of control. I have a favorite twisty section close to my home, and where the runflats left me on the shoulder scared s----less, the Kumhos were an absolute blast to drive. Hard to explain, but with Kumhos I felt in absolute control, even when at the very limits of traction. The first time that I could steer the car with just the throttle.....

I have two Eagle F1 GS-D3's on the front of my C4 and the wet traction is light years ahead of the old GS-C's. I like them so much I'm debating on putting them on the C5 when the time comes. Currently I have Bridgestone Potenza S-03s on the C5 and they are a great tire. At tirerack it looks like the GS-D3 is rated slightly better. The Kumho's look like a great bargain at the price quoted at Tirerack. Though to me it looks like the Eagle and Potenzas have better wet performance which is very important when those FL thunderstorms surprise you. :eek

Agree the other tires are better in the wet than the MXs, but who here drives their car to the limit in the rain. Not me that's for sure. I have had no problems in the rain....
