DO you all take your vettes to places like Discount Tire for new tires and the like. I have a slow leak in one of my 1990 tires and guess what? The local Chevy dealer will not work on my car cause they say that they are not certified to work on Corvettes. But I am skeptical of other tire sellers because of the low tire pressure sensors and such.

What ye all say about this?

Thanks,

Mike

I use a local GoodYear franchised store that was recommended to me a long time ago. I noticed that they get other Vettes and an occaisional Viper and the owner is a hands on guy in the shop.

Check around with your local Corvette club or sports car club and see what they say.

I haven't used most of the discount tire places as they probably don't have a clue on Vettes and how demanding their owners can be.

I asked the Corvette mechanic at my local Chevy dealer and he said Goodyear is the only place that he sends tire and alignment work. Did your Chevy dealer make a recommendation?

I would stay away from Discount Tires for Corvette tires, they gave me a nightmare by installing them the wrong way because they don't pay attention to the directional arrows on the tires.
It also took seven trips to the balancing machines to get it right. They are good tires stores with good prices but not experts in mounting high performance tires at all. I had to contact the Discount tires corporate office and went to another location to have my money refunded. I would go to a speed shop or some high performance shop and pay the extra dollars to do it right.

Best advice you are gonna find in a very long time, guaranteed: Look up the local chapter of your SCCA club. Those guys having demanding tire usages, demanding wheel alignment specs, and will have use of and/or knowledge of someone capable to service such needs. Heck, join the local chapter and meet some folks that enjoy the performance of the vette as much as anyone! Oh yeah, looking for more HP? There must be a million different classes of engine and chassis mods in the organization.
