Exactly what do each number in a tire size mean? and what size tire fits a stock ralleye rim?

The first 3dig number represents the tire width. The 2dig number is the hight to width ratio. The last number tells you if it is a radial or not and the rim diameter. For example, 225/50/R15 . I don't know what unit of measure is being used for the 225. The 50 tells you that the tire wall hight is 50% of the tire width. the R15 tells you that it is a radial tire that fits a 15 inch diameter rim. Mabey somone can tell us both what unit of measure is being used for the 225. By the way, I have know idea what the correct size is. I just used the 225/50/R15 as an example.

tire sizes are metric 225 would be 225 mm
