Tire Sizes and Suspension

Vette: 1974
Tires: 17x?
Suspension total rebuild.

From what I have been told my 74 will take 17 tall but how wide a tire can I run without rubbing with stock suspension?

Additionally this fall I would like to rebuild the front, and rear suspension on my Vette. Who makes a great kits, for a decent price, or are they all very competitive?

This is my first post, so I am looking for any suggestions.

You can go 17,18,19,20 x 9.5 for a good fit with 5" back spacing all the way around. The diameter has nothing to do with how well they will fit.
