My 95 has 255 40 17s on the front, mounted on 8.5 inch stock rims. I am looking for some chrome saw blades and came across a set of 9.5s that look to be in good shape.

My questions is, would there be any problems putting P255s on a rim 1 inch wider?

I have 285/40/17 on all four corners of my 93. The rear rims are 9.5 and I think the front rims are 8.5..... I haven't had any problems other than not being able to rotate them and wearing out the rear tires faster than the front ones.....

The goodyear tire specs on TireRack.com show recommended rim width for the 255/45-17 as 8-9.5". So, no problem.

When you buy new tires, switch to 275/40 or 285/40 for all 4.

BTW, Good Year and most other tire makers do not recommend installing the 275 or the 285 on the 8.5" rim.
