tires for an 88?

Need some opinions on what would be a good tire for my 1988.
I currently have a set of BFG's on it that seem to be short lived.
It has the 17 inch (P275/40ZR tire size) wheels. Thanks...

Firestone SZ-50's.....check the survey for them on www.tirerack.com then compare them to the others. I flat love these tires.

I have Michelin Pilot Sport 275/40 17" and i am very satisfied with them. They run silent.
