I recently purchase a 2007 Corvette and notice that the tires on the front was different from the back. The front tires are KUMHO CSTA LX PLATINUM and the rear tires are FIRESTINE FIREHAWK, will this present any types of problems while driving?

That's exactly the way my C6 was when I bought it. I figure that the difference in the sidewall thickness and overall tire feel between the 2 would be a problem so I got Firehawks for the front to match the backs.

Howdy,
If you don't max perform the car in handling, there may not be a problem. If, you do push the limits on cornering and braking, then the front and rear tires need to be matched to provide equal performance.

The KUMHO CSTA LX PLATINUM tires are listed as being: "Kumho's Grand Touring All-Season tire developed to meet the needs of sporty coupe and luxury performance sedan drivers. It is designed to blend responsive handling, long wear and a quiet ride with year-round traction including in light snow."

The Firestone Firehawk comes is several different varieties, so you'll need to check them to see if they are also a "Grand Touring All-Season" type of tire.

If they are not matched in performance and capability, you may want to get rid of one or the other set.

I'd like to welcome you to CAC 6corvette8. As you've already found, CAC has very informative people here to help you. Both Tuna and jrose have given you some good advice.

As for me, I like matched sets. I recently replaced me Firestone Firehawks RFTs (run flat) with a new set. I, too, purchased my 007 recently and it came with The Firestones on it. Generally I'm a Michelin guy, but I decided to give the Firehawks a run. They are not an all season tire, so, if I take it out in temps under 45 or so I'm real careful as the summer rubber compound doesn't grip nearly as well under those conditions.
