New to the corvette world, 2004 Commemorative Edition, LeMans Blue. Waited a very long time (kids finally left) :w .

Question.
The tires state 44 max PSI, but the Tire monitoring system goes off at 42 PSI. Do you guys keep the tires at a lower air pressure or is there an adjustment on the TMS. I would have asked the dealer but they are closed on Sun, and you guys probably know more than they do anyway :D .

The pressure shown on the tire is the 'maximum' pressure for the tire.

The 'recommended' tire pressures are on a sticker on the inside of the drivers door.

Generally, I run the pressures on my 03 at 31-33 cold. I think the door says 30 PSI.
Don't use 40+ - the tires are harsh enough at 30 as it is and you're wear the center of the tread out way too fast --- plus set the high tire pressure warning.

Almost forgot ----- WELCOME TO THE CAC!!

Thanks Tuna,
I found one of the preivous posting about the tires, of course. I've been reading all morning, I just over looked it.

I also now know why my tires on the SUV are wearing qucikly. I feel like a bloomin idiot for not looking at the door panels as well.

And thanks for the welcome, I see I have a lot of reading to do. I want to boost my sweetie a little and improve her already high gas mileage as well.

Hi Prettybull, welcome to the CAC and congratulations on your new family addition! I run 30 pai (cold tire psi) in 98, as they heat up, the pressure (duh), increases, but I've yet to see them > 33psi. Ride is good, handling exceptional, though its 'merely' stock!

You'll find a welath of information here in the threads, and there are some very experienced and knowledgable folks here. Everyone shares your joy! Really! Welcome to the 'family' and

don't forget to wave to the other vette family members you see on the road!

Thanks Silver98/Joe,
It's rained here in the Dallas, Tx area, so no golf today. And have been reading all day (in between cigars). Have learned a lot today by reading past threads on, tires, shifters, intakes, etc. I did have a problem with the vette though, very poor drink holders, hehe. But I will be fixing that, being a woodworking I have an idea for some storage and added safe drink holders. It will fit right behind the waterfall and stretch from speaker to speaker. If it works out and looks good I might put it out there for the CAC feedback.
