I am not scared to race, but......my cusion jsut got her 2004 Cobra in.....and well she wants to race me. I have heard sevral rumors of the 2004 cobras creaming some of the C4s but i have got a little advantage over a stock C4.

My specs: 361c.i. V8
K&N Oil and Air Filter
Royal Purple Synthetic oil
High Preform Clutch
8.8 MM Accel wires and AcDelco Rpaidfire plugs
Ported Heads and a few other little accesories
Red Top Batterie
New tranny and clutch (4+3)
Bigger Crank(refaced) & hotter cam

Cobra Specs: Stock 4.7 Supercharged with Manual Tranny

I dont wanna embarasse my self so du u guys think that i have a chance
or should i not attmempt. I can smoke any GT you give me but i am not sure about the new cobras

Has anyone had a runin with the new rustang cobras yet.......

Don't take this as the truth, but I think it is putting out around 390 horse and torque but thats at the flywheel so that equals about 320 to the ground. With a good driver low 13's high 12's maybe. I might be wrong if I am please correct me.

The problem is, theyre underrated. These things put out SICK numbers.

Most put close to that 390 at the wheels, with just a small change to the SC.

If you should lose, just point out the fact that for the money she spent, you could own your Vette, an SUV and a Sea-Doo.
:)

That aint no lie, from what i gather she laid down 43large on that thing. Dotn get me wrong it is a nice vehicle. But that is a down payment on a C6

You will smoke the ford right off . When the supercharger turns on, to give the ford power you will be long gone.Over more than a 1/4 mile the ford should smoke you,but by then you will be out of gas.
I eat every thing around here on the road maz cobra and 308 fairy the juice does it all 11.17 120.34 mph with out the juice 13.44 104.mph

I take it that the cobra is a manual. Instead of looking at the numbers on the cobra, I would look at the driver. Do they drive the car like the person who tested it at the track. Most likely not. If that is the case, race them while they dont know the car that well. When my 86 was pretty much stock I took my buddy in his 2000 GT. Well anyways it is worth a try, and remember the price difference, because if you took that money you could have a faster car then the cobra no problem if you already dont.

Good luck

Craig

Just race and find out what happens, a lot has to do with the driver as well.

these cars weigh in at 3700 lbs and can't hook to save their lives. if it's truely stock you will be her from a dig or from a highway roll. remember after 100 mph they are like a brick going thru the air.

the 03 04 cobra's are the best cars on the market when it comes mods per $. with alittle cash (about 1k) that car will run mid 11's easily. best i've seen them at the track, and i'm at sea level, is 13.10's. never seen a stock one yet run 12's.

no worry's man whoop her tail :D

Race for fun's sake. Don't worry about being embarassed or something. Being beaten by a car that is fast enough to outrun a corvette is not an embarassment. It takes a truly mighty car to do it. Those new Cobras are Mustangs with real kick, and getting beaten by such a worthy competitor is not shameful.

Try this... Would you be embarassed to be beaten by a Mini Cooper?

A friend of mine has a Mini Cooper that will beat everyone on this forum in the quarter mile... easily.

It's in the Guiness book of world records as the smallest jet car in the world.

There's always someone faster. So don't fret about finding him. It's gonna happen eventually. It doesn't mean your car is slow. Corvettes have always been formidable. Whether they win or lose. And they usually win...

She should not want to race you, a 15 year vette beating her new 04 Mustang, if you lose so what, but if you win it could be sad day.

43k will buy a new C5 right now.

Go for it, you have nothing to lose and a lot to gain. If you win you can rub it in that a 17 year old car beat her brand new Cobra. Good luck.

As a continuation of this saga, for hevans sake her husband finally got me to ride in the rustang. I about S*** in my pants when i reallized how much of a kick it had...........but then i took him for a ride in the vette that encloses a 361ci powerplant and showed him that i could "speed" too. For some reason now he isnt so sure of running the cars..... I dunno ir it was the 130mph that scared him or the fact that i did a burnout for about a half a block.....

But like i always say "u caint be SKERD". So now i am currently changing my damn tires due to the slight burnout. Well then he decided he would turn his Traction Control off and do it too. but he didnt realize that his car shuts it down at 6,500 RPMS so he is slightly ****ed....oh well if he decides to run i will be willing and waiting.

till next time

I have always thought, that a car is always faster being a passenger. For one when I am driving and I nail it I know I am going to. When im riding shotgun and somebody nails it I am not ready for it so to say.

Just a note, most cars with a roots S/C will make a lot more power with a "small change to the SC". Usually this is a change of the drive pulley. This works on Lightenings and W-bodies and Bonnevilles and such too. A FWD Buick can get into the 13's with some small such changes, and into the 12's with a bit more. However that doesn't mean the car is underrated from the factory. :w

My Regal is quite stock, but there are several folks out there who can routinely show taillights to stock and slightly modified 'vettes. A stock S/C car vs a S/C car with a pulley change can be quite different. :)
