Hello everybody,

I reassembled the dash after 6 or 7 years. So I found a problem. I tried to put a normal grey light socket on top of the center console but it looked to be to small (78 - 82) dash.

Is there a different socket for this opening or am I missing something?

I'm talking about the light socket that goes on top of the center gauge console. :)

Greetings Peter

Peter, you mean the one that lites up the hvac display? ???

Peter I'll look in the AIM when I get home later today....I believe it is a regular bulb but it has a magnifier that it shines thru to make it lite up more.....

I looked in my assembly manual and it only states "socket asm".

Next small problem.
I reassembled the dash but the glove box door lock knop keep falling off. I think there is a special way to lock it to the rear part but I don't know how. Or is it just glued in place? :)

Greetings Peter

I checked my service manual...
pretty sure its just a regular bulb...
I had trouble with my catch as well...I think there is a nut on the inside of the door that can be tightened,If I get a chance I look at mine this weekend...

The light bulb above the center console in the dash is a special bulb that has a magnifier built into the bulb to concentrate light over the air/heat controls and the cig lighter.

The The L81 Corvette Registry list the light bulbs in the tech portion. The bulb in the center of the dash looking down toward the center console is #1445 ;)

Hello Bud,

Thanks for the bulb update. I didn't know that and will look into that! :)

There the glove box knob problem.
Is this glued or in some other manner attached to the lock?

If it's like my 78', there is an escutcheon that threads in from the outside of the door.
