does anyone know the top speed of a 1986 auto vette

thanks
my stock 87 did 163 mph by the digi readout at 4500 rpm and still was pulling....slowly...but pulling. i'm sure it would of ran out about 4800 rpm.

this was a 1 time deal :D

They were advertised at about 150-155mph.

I would never attempt that though.

That is way to much I would ever want to run man. You must have gonads of steel.

Depends on your rear ratio really. I've had my '90 with a 2.59 rear up to 140 ... when it hit 140 it felt like it hit a power band and started pulling harder ... I was kinda worried about my old BFG's so I backed her down. At the time I was only pulling around 3700 RPM's in OD.

:w

Mad-Mic has a 2.59 rear axle which helps with the top speed. If you have the performance axle you will see a top speed between 150 and 155.

And a long open road.

when i bought the car it had 30k miles and grand new GSC's on her. was a one time deal. isn't the first time i ran her up into the triple digits but was definetly the first time and only time that fast. was 4 am in the morning on a tues morning. the car handled real good. no front end float just felt like the whole car sucked down.

Just do a search of Mad Mic in the Road Kill section!:L:L:L

They were advertised in the 150 range for top speed. The car should be able to hit that area depending on conditions like state of tune, altitude, ambient air temps and wind.

I have seen pics of a ZR-1 speedo reading out 200 MPH with the car sitting on a dyno and the drum being allowed to free-wheel. Without a load on the drivetrain in a situation like this, you could very well see an indicated 170 or so.

I saw an indicated 160 in my automatic92 vert on a trip to Montana once. Going slightly downhill on I-90, it took about 3 miles to get to that speed from 75. The tach showed 5600 RPM at that point and the motor felt like it was all done at that point although it will otherwise easily go to the 5850 RPM fuel cut-off point in lower gears.
