Touch-up paint for '99 magnesium rims?

I just had Goodyear Tire install a new set of run-flats on my '99 convertible, but the machine they used chipped the coating on all of the magnesium rims. Is this a metal coating or just a paint that can be touched up?

somebody recently squeezed me into the curb and i chipped up my wheels. mine are the pewter colored magnesiums. i went to autozone and got some pewter touch-up paint. i had to apply it on the outer edge of the rim almost half way around, because it was chipped up pretty bad. the paint's not a perfect match, but unless your looking closely, you don't notice at all. and at $3.00 for the paint, it was a lot cheaper than replacing the wheel ($1,000/wheel new, $600 refurbished online).

Hey, raycdosu, thanks for the tip! A local dealer said they can send the rims out to be refurbished, but I have to give up the car for 10 days and it will cost $1,200.oo

I'l try the paint and see how it comes out...
