TPIS Intake ?'s

New Member, First Vette. I got the TPIS "Big Mouth" intake manifold, which came with the FelPro1205 gaskets,however the FelPros don't have the restrictor plates in place on the gaskets. I was told by a GM mechanic that not having these could cause an overheating situation on longer drives. I ordered the AC Delco gasket kit anyway. Did I waste 50 bucks or would the FelPro cause these problems??

Bad description I know. They are little thin aluminum(I guess) plates that fit in the intake gasket on the rear openings to restrict water flow through the intake manifold

By the way, welcome to the Corvette Action Center!

I'm not familiar with the "Big Mouth" from TPiS. Does it include the plenum, or just the runners with the stock plenum? Are you saying the runners have no provision for the coolant passages, or they do and you are unsure of the correct gaskets? Have you called TPiS and asked Terry or Jim?

It should not lead to a cooling problem, but if you live and drive in cold climates it might hinder warm-up.

The "Big Mouth" is the intake manifold only. I'm referring to the gaskets between the cylinder heads and the intake manifold itself. Sorry I wasn't too clear on the description earlier. I haven't added the large tube runners or had the factory plenum ported yet. It is the next step in line though. I haven't had a chance to call the guys at TPIS yet, which is what I should've done first.:duh Thanks for your input and the welcome. I'm no Mr. Goodwrench nor am I a total retard, so I'm sure I'll be here a lot in the future. Thanks again
