Trailering an Aerobody... How-To?

For any of you that have trailered your cars - Where do you wrap the tie down straps? I have axle wraps and ratcheting straps but am unsure of the best place to put them so they are secure but don't damage any of the lower body work. Thanks!

On my Aerobody, I used the 4 factory tie down "ovals" The ones in the back are right behind the rear tire insides between the rubber and the lower shock mount...

The front ones are a bit tighter and the oval is about 3-4 inches (toward the firewall) past the lower a arm & transverse spring, you can see it as it is one of the lowest parts on the cars frame

Some people have suggested tie downs around the rear "batwing" and front a arms however, the factory mounts allow for zero bounce - hope this helps

In using an open trailer I use large ratcheting straps and put the front hooks on the frame crossmember that holds the steering rack. There are openings in that frame crossmember for the hooks.

On the rear I put the hooks on the lower shock mounting bolt points. Even after several hundred miles of trailering the straps still stay very tight and rarely need adjustment.

Another thought, are we racing SUV's with the trailers in tow or not?

Eric, you do realize my truck is a Quad Cab 4x4 right? Can I choose the road surface of choice?

Maybe we should do a triathlon format for the truck/suv races. Here we go:

1) Trucks with fully loaded trailers
2) Trucks without trailers
3) Trucks over the hills and through the woods with lots of steep inclines, rock and MUD.

We may need some timing and scorekeeping people. Maybe this is getting too complicated

Chain them together and have a pulling contest perhaps?

Or we could just leave the trucks/SUVs at the hotel and drive the Callaways...
