When in Drive and slowing down slowly, when I get to 18mph the tranny clunks as it down shifts - feels like someone rearended me.

Doesn't do this in any other gear. Had tranny rebuilt Feb of last year - time to take it in before warranty runs out?

Thanks gang!

yep.. afraid so.

3rd to 2nd gear is clunking? Could be bad bushings in the gear cluster, or loose planetary gears. I would get it back to the rebuilder to have it checked out. My 700R4 blew out the planetary gears at 10 MPH a week after it was rebuilt. They didn't get technical, all they said was "There's a lot a busted metal in there". Needless to say they fixed it for free.

Mine does clunk sometimes, but if you aren't paying attention you don't notice it, my brothers car does it too, and I think there was another thread like this with many people reporting on this same issue. I am not sure how hard yours is actually clunking, like I said before when my car does it is hard to hear, and it is only at certain deceleration times that it does this.

"feels like someone rearended me."
Pretty much says it all. Not a normal thing.

It sounds like someone didn't get the first gear set up right......don't walk but run to the rebuilder....It's probably slipping as it down shifts....this will turn it into a metal shredder....
