tranny problem

I posted this problem before and didn't have any replies. My trans started making a whining sound and I had to have the car towed away. It sounded like something was slipping. The car would move but very little. Any ideas would be appreciated.

First off, do you have a auto or six speed????
Any fluid leaks????
Do you have a check engine lights?????
Do you have reverse?????
Also, when is the whining noise occuring??? Park, neutral, drive, reverse??????

tranny noise

I have an auto. It makes the noise in all gears but I don't think it made it in neutral. When it started to make the noise I dropped it down into third. I got to a light and when I took off it even made it in third. Any ideas?

Hi there,
Well, without getting too technical, it sounds like one of the parts inside the trans broke.
My feeling is that the sun shell may have broken. While there are many things that could cause your condition, this would be the most common thing that I have seen.
There is a revised part, that was engineered to assist in reliability of this. There is even a TSB regarding upgrade of the transmission for this condition.
670 is the part I speak of.
I would request the old parts returned when you pick up your car.
