Another thing I'll have to address with my new to me '87 is that the plastic end piece that hooks to the throttle assembly is broken. The piece is there but the part that hooks on is gone. Is there any way these can be repaired to keep in use or does the entire cable have to be swapped out? If it needs to be replaced where could I find information on doing it the easiest way? Will it be in my factory manual when it gets here?

Thanks

You'll need to replace the cable,It should be in the FSM. It's not a complicated job! :thumb

as a temp fix you can get the correct size ferrels from a hardware store and fashion a loop at the end of the cable to hang on the pin that its supposed to hook on. Just be careful not to use too much cable as that would have the effect of being over-adjusted. I've had to place new ferrels on almost every cable under the hood because the ends come off. Cables fine, just a bad end.
These ferrels are smash type, but you can pinch/crimp them with wire cutters to pinch the ferrel onto the cable.
