Ok I resently desided that I want a 6speed because I'm having problems with the overdrive in my 86 pacecar and am wanting to replace it with a 6speed. The question I have is I just got this car and I don't know alot about it yet. Well What kind of transmission should I swap to now I don't want need a full race or anything like that for all I care it can be a salvage yard 6speed that needs a little T.L.C. What kind can I swap in without too much of a head ache and what would it come out of. Maybe a guesstamet price too would be nice. Is it worth it or should I spend the big bucks and get this 4+3 rebuilt or maybe even replaced. Also I am not conserned about originality so don't make that a factor.
Thanks,

This is a reply i got on my delema with my 4+3 from (Jaimie M)

i did the zf6 in mine, with the 85 you have to change the flywheel master and slave cylinder, clutch, actuater, bell housing. Richmond sells a 6 designed to replace the 4+3 the only thing you change is the tranny and shifter (which is easy direct bolt in replacement) if i had to do it again i would go with the richmond probably cheaper in the long run to

As with Kens Richmond, you have to carve a hole about 12x12 and re-fibreglass to allow room. With the ZF-6 I don' think you have to.
