Doing some legwork on my step-dads '66 I am getting more questions than answers. On the body plate under the glovebox the "trim" is listed as 450BA. I know 450 is white/blue int. but what is the "BA" for?

Also, the paint is listed as 976AA(nassau blue) What does the "AA" mean?

I also noticed the body is #8545, but the car was a late one, being built mid-July? An early body with a late build date? Seems unusual, but back then anything was possible I guess. Thanks, Classic

Classicvette63,

The AA after the 976 indicates a St. Louis body (rather than A.O. Smith). Can't help you with the BA after 450.

Hello,

The BA is the ECL code; Exception Control Letter. It was an identification system that grouped RPO's; Regular Production Options.

I believe the BA code means the car is a convertible and this interior could not be grouped with RPO A82 (headrests), A85 (shoulder belts), C07 ( auxiliary hardtop) and N03 (36 gal. gas tank).

correct for an A.O. Smith car, and on a St Louis car add on that also could not have came with A31 power windows, or M35 powerglide automatic.

Thanks guys. His car has headrests, but I'm sure those were added later. Classic

The ECL codes are well explained in Noland Adams book, 63-67 Resto. Guide. ECL=Exception Control Letter. What does it mean. Without getting specific, it applies to different configurations of the same color/material of the interior.

Example. You order a car with a blue vinyl interior.

Door panels for power windows wouldn't have holes for window cranks. Air Conditioning would have a dash panel with the extra "vent" in the center. Radio delete would have a dash panel without the hole for the radio. Etc.......

SO.....they're all the same color and material, but "different" because of options ordered on the car. Hope this 'splains it. :) Chuck
