trying to get my licence plate insert painted.

i went to the dealership to see how much it is to get my licence plate inset painted. the guy said it was $55 and they paint it the original factory red, but my car isnt the original red. its been painted a brighter red. he also said they dont do color matching. it was just the guy at the front desk, so he may not know...

has anyone got their insert painted or have some suggestions about getting one painted?

a small local body shop is probably a better bet in this case... they can have the guys do it in their spare time. 99% of body shops can do excellent color matching these days... even if the color is a shade off, it will probably be undetected anway.

i stopped by a local paint shop while i was out today and they said they had problems with an insert previously. they said it is hard to sand in the grooves of the letters.

as for color matching, they referred me to a different shop that can do it. i hope this little insert isnt going to cost me an arm and leg to get painted...

About a month ago, I had a guy back into my Corvette at a gas station while I was pumping gas...... Well, his insurance got to replace my bumper and paint my hood.
I didn't have a license insert installed before the accident. I had purchased one at a junk yard (red). The body shop did a great job cleaning and painting the insert to match the car.
I had the work done at Robbins Chevrolet in Humble. They had quoted me a price of $35.00 to paint the insert a couple of weeks before the accident. I would really recommend their work.

It was repainted Black. You might call them and ask about matching the color. The Body Shop estimator is Chris Ward. His number is 281-446-3021 Extension 3.
He's a good guy. They treated me fairly. :cool
