Can anyone provide me with information on TSB 03-06-05-005 - Exhaust System 'jingling' noise and TSB 03-07-29-004 - M/T Operating Characteristics????

Your help is greatly appreciated.

I can help with the exhaust jingle TSB. I can provide detailed info later because I have a copy of the TSB at home. I remember it said that they knew it did it and the engineers were working on a fix. It said that nothing was loose and don’t attempt to replace anything. I personally think it’s the cats or something like that. It’s not bad on my car and that is the least of my problems. I took my car in today and they’re going to open the engine up because I had a knock at cold start that was louder than normal.

Thanks for the information. If you can share the TSB details when you have a chance, I would greatly appreciate it. Also, here is hoping that you don't have a serious issue under the hood!!!

I checked this AM, engineers must still be working on the Exhaust System 'jingling' noise as there has been no updates. Regarding the M/T Operating Characteristics - the info is rather lengthy covering Gear Rattle, Neutral Rattle, Backlash (noise created from changing engine / driveline loading), Shift Effort, Non-Synchronized Gears, and Skip Shift. Was there any specific question you had regarding this TSB ?

No, I wasn't looking for anything specific. A friend of mine is having a world of trouble with his new 03' vert and those are the TSBs the GM dealer was referencing when he took it in to the shop. He was not able to get any info on a fix and was told... "GM is working on a fix." They would not even give him a copy of the TSB, so he is very frustrated at not knowing any of the details.

I can understand the frustration. I checked with my local Chevy dealer – they don’t have a policy preventing them from giving out copies of TSBs. They have given them out on request from an existing customer.

Please note that anyone (dealer, independent, do-it-yourselfer) can buy the info (2003 GM Service Information CD Set) from Helm, Inc at

It’s just hard to believe that after spending $50K – you can’t get two sheets of paper from them. Especially the M/T TSB – it’s just generic information.
