I have a cracked turn indicator lens on my aerobody. I am looking for an orange turn indicator lens for the drivers side...Callaway only has the clear ones, and I don't think they would look as good on my red car. Can anyone help?? If so, you can email me privately @ william_barrett@oxy.com

Thanks,

Will

Will, one member here bought an Aerobody w/ clear lenses and then "converted them" the amber - They looked awesome and I could not tell any difference from where I was standing.

Callaway4Fun is who did this, here is a pic of his car - hope this helps :m

Were the "converted" lenses painted with a tint color or what???????? They do look great!

Turbo Joe, He used some sort of ceramic type of paint to tint them amber - they were colored on the insides and since the texture of the inner lens is rough, there was never a chance of seeing imperfections.

Working w/ Dave @ the paint shop, Callaway4Fun and he were able to achieve the "classic amber look" for the lens :cool

Newer cars use an amber bulb inside the clear lens.

It was a translucent amber color paint used for tinting glass that comes in a spray bomb... I forget the brand name. It's a stock item and nothing "custom" that is used for achieving various colors for stained glass. Althought the application on the clear turn signal lens was certainly a custom application. I would guess that a hobby shop would have it.

One example...

I don't recall this being the brand that Dave used but it's one example -

I personally like the clear ones better. One thing you might also check into is adhesion promoter for plastic because if it starts to flake off it will look nasty.

Before I order new lenses from Callaway, are there any alternative suppliers out there? I am thinking no but it never hurts to see what others have done.

Nope - Callaway made the molds for these and retained them...

The reason the lens color changed, was they ran out of the yellow plastic - well, that is the short version ;)

I just saw another car up at Old Lyme w/ the dyed amber lenses - if it were side by side another car w/ original amber lenses, you might be able to tell otherwise, you will be fine :cool

Hope this helps - Chris
