Did you know that the ram's horn isn't symetrical? The driver's side inlet from the intercooler is actually about a half inch higher than the driver's side!! Ask me how I know!

yeah, you guys caught me! :L When I was working on the car I was seeing how many bottles I could store on the top of the motor!
Actually, I notice that the driver's side inlet to the ram's horn is a little higher than the passenger's side because the hood and aero nose are off my car right now. I never woulda noticed had I not looked directly at the car standing 10 feet in front of it. On my '87, the driver's side is a little higher to clear the air pump. On newer cars- is it the same? Reason for asking is that the later year(s) had the A/C unit moved to the driver's side from the pass side.. :confused Same or different? I'll save ya a bottle or two for answering!
On another note-- buy your C4 restoration parts NOW if you think you're planning on cleaning up your motor compartment. Thankfully, one of the guys at a local GM dealer is a die-hard Vette guy and he's been helping me decipher the exploded diagrams and order misc parts for me. Surprisingly, there is a fair amount of stuff that is no longer available through GM. One of the most surprising pieces that is no longer available is the intermediate plastic piece that is directly behind the shock (part of the wheel well per se) and connects the front and rear portions of the wheel well. You'd think that it would still be available.. but it is not. Salvage or Contemporary Corvette. I've been trying to balance the cost of new parts against the painstaking hours consumed on refinishing the parts by hand (sweat equity labor).
My car isn't in bad shape, but the more I look into what makes the old L-88 Vettes a 100 pt show winner and worth several hundred thousand dollars is far above where my car is at now. I enjoy the street driving.... but show quality suffers as a result. So, I've been tinkering a bit! (Actually, a lot.. too many bottles stacked up on that manifold and ram's horn )

Tinkering Restoration Stuff... Aero people help out please!
I've got a couple questions for some Aerobody owners. If you could print this out and take 10 minutes to look at your car with a flashlight-- it'd be greatly appreciated and you'll earn credits toward Yuengling consumption.
It would be great to hear from multiple owners because I have a general feeling that there is more than one correct answer:
1) What is the color of your Aerobody nose Corvette emblem? Mine was black and was painted body color-- but what is yours?? Is it also body color or is it the standard GM finish??
2) What color is the bracket that holds the Vette emblem in place behind the aero bumper?? Again, mine is body color.... but what is yours?
3) Inside the four upper nostrils of your aerobody nose-- Is that painted body color?
a) If it is painted body color inside there-- was it carefully and purposely painted body color or
b) Was it just overspray that caused it to be that way?
4) The aerobody nose was fitted with some "filler" panels. These are adjacent to the radiator housing and directly above the rods that entend outward towards the very front of the nose for support. The filler panels that I speak of can be seen by looking into the front of the car and towards the radiator and pusher fan. There is one on the left side and one on the right side. They are there to channel the air more directly into the radiator.

Answer #1 The emblem is factory colored black. Answer #2 The brackets are a flat black color if I am not mistaken. Answer #3 the nostrils are Body colored not oversprayed.Answer #4 the filler panels are Black.
