I have been wanting to liven up the C5 emblem pressed in the under hood cover of my 2002 Pewter convertible. I have looked in many, many websites and catalogues and can't find anywhere that sells a C5 emblem large enough to cover the outline already there. Is there such a thing or does it have to be painted? If it is to be painted, where would you recommend I take the car? To a regular paint shop or someplace else?
Would appreciate any help anyone on the forum could give me.
Thank you.

Looks to be a fairly easy do it yourself project - I'd like to try it myself this winter if I get the time.

Here's a link to a past thread on the subject:
Painted Hood Liner

In that same thread there is a link to a website with detailed instructions:

I painted the hoodliner with Rusticide black (as in many threads) and took it to a local airbrush artist who painted it with automotive paint. He thinks his painting would hold up without the primer coats. Didn't cost much and looks a lot better than I could have done with paint pens. I'm going to have him add more to it.

Lou G, A few C5 owners have tried the stick on decals with limited success. The success or failure seems to be in the preparation of the material and the process of heating the decal with just the right amount of heat when applying. Even with meticulous preparation, however, some have lifted and evetually come off due to engine temps., etc. I would either paint with Testors paint pens, or have it commercially done. The sample of air brushing looks really outstanding. I plan to try mine over the winter using the procedure outlined in some of postings here. Good luck with whatever you choose.

That's it, Rustolium flat. Took two cans and three coats for even coverage. Like I said, the painter was convinced that it wasn't necessary, but my liner had a streak that would not clean off, apparently from water/grit thrown by the serpentine belt. (This is a road car!) But the upside is, if you don't like the result you can paint over it. IMHO this is the easiest, cheapest, most striking mod for a C5.

Good luck!

Thank you. Great ideas from everyone.
Appreciate all your responses. I'll let you know what I decide to do.

I had mine air brushed by a professional about 1 1/2 years ago. Looks great!!! It cost about $325. Worth every penny!!!

Thank you. I finally had mine done by a buddy of mine.

It's probably a lot easier and cheaper to have it done locally. Find someone who does airbrushing professionally.
