so i just picked up "Valerie" from the shop today and while i had orignally told them to put in a toggle switch for my OD (i was going to do this myself but with my work schedul its hard to find the time, plus im bad with wires) they found out that my switch was good this whole time!! just a few broken wires so they put in new wires with pigtails and my 4+3 as of right now is working just as GM intended it to. My question is this, for the most part I only want to use OD in 4th gear (the reason i wanted the switch was so that i could lock out the ecm from controling the OD) when i hit the button from 4th direct to 4th OD is it bad for the trans if I dont push the clutch down? Ive been told that downshifting from 4th OD to 4th direct while moving is HORRIBLE for the the trans, i was wondering if the same applies to upshifting?
ps. If i turn my radio off while driving in direct mode If i listen VERY VERY closely I can hear something spinning, if i push the OD button it gets quieter but DOESNT GO AWAY..this isnt that bearing going bad is it? because i've been told that if the bearing is starting to wear the noise will go away in OD. am i paranoid?
