Hey guys.. I post every so often about this and that but haven't spent a lot of time here on the CAC lately...
I bought my 66 last year in April and drove it thru the summer. The car isn't a Numbers car but it was in pretty good shape.. I ended up pulling the motor and tranny this winter, well in the end of October.. Disassembled the front end, removed everything from the engine bay, and cleaned the frame up.

Four wire grinding wheels later and lots of dust I had the frame cleaned up as good as possible with the body on. Needless to say the wifey wasn't really happy about this dust issue in the garage.. She got over it though.. Once almost the entire frame was down to bare metal I painted it with POR15 and top coated with 2 coats of Rustoleum Gloss Black... Yep Gloss looks good....

Rebuilt the front end and replaced the brake lines to the rear and the rear brake lines...Installed the engine bay wiring harness and got ready to install the motor and 5 spd by putting everything on that could to test fit all the bolts and everything...

Once I got the new radiator support and in it was time to load the motor and tranny in.. Word to the wise if you are doing the Keisler at the same time as you have the motor out leave the support out to make your life easier... As me why I know.. HAHA..

The car is great.. Got a ticket today to prove it.. Don't think I was speeding and am actually going to fight this one.. I was tachin 2k in 5th and the cop claims that I was doing 72 in a 55.. NO WAY.. Even if my tach is off a little I don't think I was doing more than 65.. Anyway... Just thought after all the help that this place has been I'd say thanks.... Especially to a couple of buddys that helped when I had direct ????'s Bill B, Jeff B, Jeff G and my pop. Thanks Dad for putting up with my daily questions...... Dave..

Dave sounds like you have been real busy with the car for sure.

As for your ticket I would not fight it.It only anoys the guys in blue. You would be better served meeting with the patrol man before the hearing and pleading it to a different infraction that wont show up on your licence with points.

In new york state its real bad to have speeding points on your licence. The insurance companies rate your policy acourding to your licence.

If you had to pay a higher fine for say falty equiptment, meaning your spedo was broke and non operational, it would be better then getting a ticket for anything that would show up on your licence.

Good luck.

One of our drivers was stopped for speeding and he was also written for a higher speed then he thought he was going. He spent alot of time disputing if the radar was acurate.
Needless to say the judge was real smart he split the range of what the trooper said and what my driver said and the driver pled guilty to a lesser MPH ticket ,The driver was happy as a clam because he had proven the trooper wrong. The most ironic part was that both the original ticket MPH and the necosiated tickets MPH carried the same fine and points.

So what did he really prove?

Go meet with the officer the night of court and applogies for speeding and wasting his time and pleed to a bad speedo.

Congrats on your progress. Must feel good to have that front end all spiffed up, and the POR 15 is great stuff. It loves to stick to cleaned up rust.
