Hi All
As many of you know, I had BABY, my '65 coupe, just under a month when some a** in front of me at a stoplight decided to put his car in reverse and back into me.
I herard from the repair shop todayand he told me the insurance company recieved his estimate but that they also said there would be some kind of delay in getting it approved but he wasn't sure why. Not finding that acceptable I called the insurance company myself. Luckily, it must have been a case of miscommunication or misunderstanding somewhere along the line as the estimate was given to the insurance company last Fri 4/16 and the check was issued to me on 4/19. (or so they say.........I haven't gotten the check yet but if it was mailed on the 19th I should get it today. Yeah, yeah, i know one of the 3 big lies in the world is "the check is in the mail" LOL)
Based on this, the shop is ordering the parts for BABY today and once they all come in Tony said it should only take one day to get eveything replaced. It was new chrome front bumper, support brackets, grill, plus a headlight motor stop.
I got REAL lucky that there was no fiberglass damage to the body, especially where the front bumper bolts directly through the body as it wraps around on the side of the front corner. the way the bumper got hit and bent in it could have easily ripped that fiberglass up from the pressure. Overall, It got off easy as it was only about $2245 to repair, all on the insurance's money. If the 'glass had been damaged than god knows how much more expensive and how much longer it would take to repair the car.
all i can do now is wait for the parts to come in and hope BABY can come home soon as we miss her and her spot in the garage here at home is lonely without her.
ok, stop the snickering now guys - i know the car isn't really a person to feel this way about but my wife and I don't have kids so BABY IS our kid!
