Update on BABY

Hey Barry,
Lots of good advice here. The main thing is you have your Vette. Maybe you could do some detail work or something else on her that requires more time than money... till you get back in the work force. It sounds like you finally found a good mechanic. Good luck.

I try to keep her as clean as possible of course, but everytime I drive her she needs cleaning and detailing all over again
LOL
that's one of those never ending jobs!

Geez, WOMEN!!
who can figure them out.
My wife comes home from work and while we are sitting down having dinnner and discussing Carlisle she out of the blue says that maybe we should get the KO's afterall while we are there.
Next thing I know I'M the one telling HER that she was right and maybe we should hold off on the wheels for a while. How do women manage to competely flip situations totally around like this?
Do women take special classes to learn how to do this stuff or is it something they are just naturally born with??
LOL

Dunno how long you've been married (22 for moi), but ya shouldn't be surprised by your wife's change in stance. Perhaps she's figured out something SHE really wants or else she just wants to build up some "chips" for the future.

:L

it will be 5 years in Oct. I know I shouldn't be surprised, she has done this plenty of times to me before but each time I'm just amazed
LOL
It just must really be a woman thing!

Well....not too bad....now it's her decision...kinda her jewelery....:)

....and if you let her find the correct set of wheels.....even more perfect.

you are enjoying the best that can happen...having a loving wife and hobby that you have in common. Nothing better than that. All the rest is solvable.

I had most of the parts togehter.....but the car apart as I got my layoff.....put the car togehter then in a tight timespan (but no tradeoffs). And now I'm self employed....not an easy year for me....see what comes next.

At least you have the advantage of a partnership.....I'm alone.

of my age?
even my wife isn't my age.

actually she is 4 months older than I am but because she was born in '64 and i was born in '65 I always joke and tell her that she is a year older than me.
she HATES when I do that!
;LOL ;LOL ;LOL

women are so sensitive about their age

John, my wife may have let me get the car and now maybe the wheels, but YOUR wife let you have LOTS of wonderful cars not to mention that incredible dream garage!

That's because I let her design the HOUSE from scratch :) . When we decided to build again, I made a deal with her - "You design the house, anything you want, and I'll design the garage, anything I want". Worked out great - her only condition was "The garage can't be bigger than the house"; I met that requirement, but not by much :D . Result? She's happy, I'm happy :beer

yeah, but you still got your dream garage!
LOL

for the finiances, be glad you didn't design a 5000 sq ft garage, as the house would still have had to be bigger than that
LOL

Barry - John's strategy is sound, a long marriage is the ultimate in negotiation 101, queered somewhat by utter lack of logic-based actions and reaction (on her part;)). Almost done putting on a 3000 s.f. addition to the house, including a new kitchen, made damn sure every freakin' appliance was the equivilalnt of an '67 L88 from her perspective (and in the case of the "warming drawer", impossible to even justify, just like KOs "when you already have perfectly good wheels for your car") and it is already paying huge dividends, not a peep about expenditures on the 65, I think I could park a '69 L71 (my next target for acquisition!) in the garage alongside the '65 and she wouldn't even raise an eyebrow beyond a "that's nice dear" . . .

I need to build me a new garage next, using John's and other formum meber's "dream garages" as a guide :D
